Kerrigan turned away from him, shaking him off. “I don’t want, nor need your apology.” She grumbled, avoiding his gaze. She knew that the angry tears were welling up in her eyes, and she refused to allow him to see them. Crying was a sign on weakness, and Kerrigan was not weak.
See what you got yourself into? You didn’t even have to be good friends and you are already feeling the sadness. You knew that getting attached to anyone in anyway was a bad idea. Now you are suffering for it.

His hand paused half way between them, a frown on his lips. "Sorry." He mumbled, holding up his other hand in surrender. "I understand if you don't want to hang out with a 'stupid dog', but please just let me escort you the rest of the way to Forks."

Kerrigan paused for a moment. She didn't know what to do. She could tell that she had upset him with her name calling, which she now realized was not a very smart thing to do. She wondered how to fix this. Did she apologize back? Did she...hug him? She shuddered slightly. But, overall, she finally decided to give this friend thing a try. Who knows, maybe it was worth it. '...doubt it' she thought.
She turned toward him awkwardly, wiping away at her eyes. What would a friend do now? This was harder than she thought. "Er...sorry about calling you that..." She mumbled, her ego suffering a huge blow. Ugh.

Ted looked up, he could see the resistance in how she faced him, but he didn't comment after she apologized for a moment. He was slightly amazed that she did so, he didn't see her as they type to apologize for anything, so he didn't take it lightly. She wouldn't just say it, unless she missed it--or he hoped so anyway. The insult had stung more than he thought it would. "It's....ok." He said with a reasuring smile, waving a hand in the correct direction towards Forks.
"Shall we then? We aren't too far now." He told her.

Kerrigan turned and walked in the direction that Ted motioned toward. She was embarrassed at her sudden apology. It was one of the first times she had ever done so.
She remained quiet as she walked, thinking things through. Her resolve was slowly wavering. Was it worth having friends? Was love in any form ridiculous like she believed it to be? Was her loneliness not something to want?

As they walked, the silence stretched on. Ted kept his hands in his pockets as they walked. He really had no idea what to say. Even the slightest thing might set her off, and he really didn't want to do that. "Its stopped raining." Ted said as realization hit. He hadn't heard rain hit the tops of the trees in a long time.

Kerrigan blinked and looked at him, her eyebrows knitting together in confusion. "Er, yeah, it did." she mumbled, looking back to her feet. Was he trying to strike some conversation? She quickly raked her brain for something suitable to talk about. Politics? No, that ended up in violence. Music? No, that would end up as a monologue. Kerrigan knew nothing about music.
After a quick second of thought, Kerrigan came up with one of the only things she knew much about. "Um, do you read?" she asked, looking back up at him.

Ted wondered why he said that, and grinned slightly at her reply. It was obvious to him that neither of them were very conversational. "When I can." He replied with a slight laugh. "When I'm not sleeping I'm running on guard duty." Ted said truthfully. "What about you?" He asked giving her a sidelong glance. He wondered what authors cluttered her bookshelves.

Roxy mouth dropped to the ground when she heard Kerrigan say stupid dog to Ted. She also watched Kerrigan take off in the wrong direction. She could still small Rain so that means they didn't get very far. Then she got an idea. "Kerrigan, you know what you could do to ease away all this fear and anger? CLIFF DIVE!" she said but made sure that Kerrigan heard Ted's question also.

Kerrigan stopped in her tracks. Cliff diving? Was she serious? What kind of ludicrous idea was that? She would drown!
"Uh," Kerrigan said, trying not to be rude; something very hard to do. But she couldn't do it, even if she wanted to. "I can't. Sorry. So, anyway. Books, yeah." she continued, trying to change the subject quickly. "I have too many books to count, so many that I don't even buy anymore because I can never find anything new. I read classics like Shakespeare and Emily Bronte. I also love poems, so a mix of both is great, like Homer. But, one of my favorite poets is Edgar Allan Poe." Kerrigan said, rambling on. It must have been obvious that she was trying to keep the subject away from water.

Ted grinned at the idea of cliff diving, he hadn't been in a while and he wondered how a human would fare. He could see that it was a lost cause because of her expression. "Really? You seem more of a sci-fi fantasy girl. You know? Stephen King types of stuff." Ted smiled. "I wouldn't peg you for a classical girl."

Kerrigan shook her head and wrinkled her nose. "Just because I don't run away screaming at the sight of fictional creatures doesn't mean I enjoy reading about them." she said, fighting a smile. "But, yes. I love the classics. But, I do enjoy poems more than actual novels for some reason. Shakespeare was a decent poet, but, like I said, Edgar Allan Poe holds first place on my list." she said before going abruptly rigid. She cursed under her breath then jogged off in the opposite direction. "Idiot, idiot, idiot!" she chanted to herself as she ran.

"I didn't mean it that way." Ted smiled, but then again Edgar Allen Poe wasn't known for his happy and cheerful works. "I don't really have an opinion on either one of them. I mean I studied them a bit in school but that was about much. I find them hard to read and understand." Ted sensed a change in her and he looked at her with a raised eyebrow. He was about to ask what was wrong when she cursed and then jogged off in the way they had come.
Ted followed her. "Um....may I ask what's wrong? And you know your going back towards the vampires, right?"

'Yeah, I know!" Kerrigan grumbled. She ran another hundred feet before speaking again. "I just forgot about my book. It's probably all wet and muddy." After a few more yards, she finally stopped and bent over, holding her knees while she caught her breath; she wasn't much of a runner. "It's going to be ruined." she breathed before standing up straight. "I shouldn't have thrown it on the ground" She said, mumbling to herself.

Ted had to bite back laughter. Although he was relieved to learn that it wasn't anything dangerous. "It hasn't been by itself long. I'm sure its not ruined." Ted said not even breathing hard. He was surprised to see her stamina was so low, he kept forgetting that humans couldn't run miles after miles without stopping. It had been....a long time since he had been in such company.
