The game no longer held her interest as she she killed a zombie from behind, it wasn't even looking at her. It was something all to familiar with her and she just watched the screen as the memories flooded her mind, even with her cloudy human memory, she still remembered exactly what it felt like to be grabbed, the pain in her neck and the next three horrifying days of constant torture--it seemed to last forever in her mind. Her family was murdered during her change and the person who changed her didn't stay for her--left her for dead but didn't actually kill her. Looking back on it, Svet still wasn't sure if she would have rather died or lived on as a vampire. Sure, she got to 'see the world' and outlive everyone she knew growing up, but the killing got to her some days. Svet went for the sick or homeless in those dark times in Russia, they were people that were neither missed or noticed.
After the fall of communism in the 50's, Svet became tired of her country, she swam the Bearing straight to Alaska and spent some time there with an interesting family--vegetarians, they called themselves--, Svet liked the idea, but it was harder than she thought. She went back to humans within three years. She roamed Canada but when she decided to hit the United States for some travelling, she came across the Cullen's, after enrolling herself in school under her father's name, Irvan Gordetski. Two months later she actually met the Cullen's as vampires and she's been a vegetarian again since then.
She sighed, his voice pulling her from her thoughts. She crooked an eyebrow and turned her head so she was looking at him completely. "The lion blood going bad on you or something?" She asked, setting the controller on her lap she folded her hands.

He laughed again, a little humored by her assumption. "Maybe...maybe it's your girl cooties jumpin' off in my face." He poked her in the ribs, lightening the mood. He hated to be a dweller...and at times it could be down right depressing. "Ok, so we've proved to each other to be one bad space man and a hella zombie slayer. What next? You ready to show your face downstairs?"

"Mmm." Svet dead panned. "Cooties. Really." She rolled her eyes tossing the controller across the room so it landed on her bland twin bed. Her solved Rubix Cube fell from the side and she sighed. "No actually I don't think I'll ever be completely ready." She said rolling out of his lap anyway she stood and straightened her clothes.
"Be prepared because they are totally going to embarrass you." She warned, she stuck her hands in her pockets, building up her walls of sarcasm and dark humor so when her family starts looking at her harshly and making jibs she can throw it back without being stung to bad. "Off to gallows then."

He stayed in the chair, watching her reluctance...completely understanding it. It was one of the reasons he didn't take her to Kaleb's place. "Know what..if you'd rather just stay here..I'm fine with that too." He patted the chair beside him. "We can swap cooties all night if you want."
He laughed suddenly. "I so totally didn't mean that like it sounded...." Then he grinned exposing a dimple in his right cheek. "I mean..unless that's how you want me to mean it."
He cringed with a laugh waiting for her to throw something at him.

Svet snorted. She glared at him for a minute, but when the dimple was revealed her resolve wavered and she broke into a grin. Dimples where her kryptonite. She folded her arms across her chest. "What kind of a girl-teenage-woman-vampire do you think I am?" She asked him seriously though her smile was still in place. "I mean I skip school with you, let you chase me in the woods and then sneak you into my house, and you think I want to swap my 'cooties' with you?" She said sounding incredulous. She snorted through her nose again.
"No, I'd rather get this out of the way so I can find a nice rock to crawl under, I mean if I give them this now then they won't come looking for me." Svet reasoned with a shrug of her shoulders.

He shrugged and pushed himself up from the chair. "Ooooo Kaaaaay..but your loss." He grinned again and winked as he moved to the door.
"Surely they can't be as bad as Kaleb. I mean I met them briefly the other day and they seemed cool enough. To be honest, it was the most vampires I had ever seen in one place, kinda cool in it's own way. I didn't have to pretend to be human. I like not having to pretend in a crowd. I mean, I'm used to it by now, but then again we've never stayed in one place very long either soooo." He shrugged again. "Maybe it won't be so bad."
He watied for her with his hand on the doorknob.

Svet rolled her eyes dramatically at him, one of the kind that threatened to get stuck like it. She put her hands in her pockets and bit her lip for a moment, steeling herself again. She may tell it like she sees it, but the girl was not one for bluntly facing problems and confrontations, such as going downstairs.
Oh well, grow up. She thought to herself with a grumble. Fat chance that would ever happen. She set her jaw and then looked at him, smiling briefly she nodded. "Ok, we can go now." She said with another small brief smile.

He opened the door and raised his brows as if daring her to go first. "Is it that bad, should I lead? What are you scared of? Like Carlisle Cullen will ever let anything bad happen to you."
He paused for a moment and then cleared his throat. "Sometime today would be nice...or does Emmett owe you one or something?" Zane stepped out into the hallway and looked both ways. "Coast is clear. I promise."

Funny he should mention Emmett owing her one. She laughed hesitantly. "About that..." She trailed off with a tiny smile, when he stuck his head out in the hallway she laughed. "What if someone was standing there?" She asked with a fold of her arms. She bit her lip again before she pulled her courage together and walked out into the hallway, linking arms with him as she passed she continued to walk down the hallway.
"That's Rain and Nakuro's room, they are never here any more--to get away from Alice because she has turned into a bridenazi." Svet explained. "And that is Edward and Bella's old room, but they have their own house so I guess its a 'spare'." Svet shrugged as they reached the stairs. She spotted the back of Emmett's profile and he turned with a large grin across his face, revealing his dimples.
"You, me, arm wrestling, right now." Emmett pointed at her and Svet grinned and then shook her head.
"We have business, Em." Svet replied, as he grabbed her in a big brotherly bear hug. Emmett looked Zane over, holding Svet so her feet didn't touch the ground.
"You're that new one....Hudson, right?" He asked, his face serious.

Zane smiled as she linked her arm with his and listened to her mini-tour of the hallway, mentally noting where who was..who was not and who wa.... His train of thought stopped short when his eyes passed over the form of Emmett.
His arm slipped from Svet's as she was lifeted from her feet, his eyes on the biggest vampire he ever met. Somehow he seemed bigger today than when they had been introduced a few days ago. "Um..yeah..Zane. Zane Hudson, Kaleb...ya know Kaleb? I'm his son..stepson..uh, you know what I mean."
He laughed at his own nervous habit and looked back to Svet. "See...you're perfectly fine."

Svet felt Emmett shaking from laughter at Zane's stuttered explanation. He hefted the girl up on his shoulder cave man style, keeping his arm around her thighs near her knees so she couldn't kick him as hard. He held out his other hand with grin, "I'm Emmett, and this here is like a baby sister."
"Emmett!" Svet screeched. "I am older than you by two hundred years and I am about two seconds away from biting your ass!" She growled from her spot on his shoulder. Emmett chuckled but set her down, ruffling her hair.
"Alice is looking forward to meeting you two. Together. And Edward. He busted out laughing about fifteen minutes ago, but he wouldn't tell us what he heard." Emmetted pouted for a moment before he shrugged walking down the steps to the first floor, still laughing.
Svet sighed through her nose and smoothed out her hair and shirt. "He does that all the time." She huffed, glancing him over, "Lighten up or they'll sense your fear." She teased, hearing Emmett laugh in reply.

He stood quiet and still during the caveman fiasco. Last thing he wanted to do was be on Emmett Cullen's bad side. Taking the offered hand, he gave a firm shake and grinned.
The grin faded however at the mention of Alice and "together". Was there a scolding on the way? He completely stopped breathing at the mention of Edward and automaticaly his thoughts turned to things they should not. Dammit brain!! He tried to close off the thoughts but the more he tried the worse it got until he closed his eyes and formed the image of a coca cola bottle. Coca cola had been his favorite. Have a coke and a smile. Coke and a smile. "Coke and a smile." He did not realize that he had begun saying the phrase out loud until he opened his eyes and looked around. Ok, maybe he was a little nervous as well.

Svet watched him as he seemed to be concentrating, probably thinking over what Emmett said, or just staring off into space, she nudged him with her hip. "Let's get this road on the show. Er, I mean show on the road." She corrected herself linking arms with him again. "Alice and Jasper, Esme and Carlisle, and Emmett and Rosalie's rooms are on this floor. Carlisle also has his study in there somewhere." She said waving a hand down the hallway at all the closed doors. She drew in a deep breath as she took the first step down to the first floor, anticipation and fear bubbled deeply within and she fought to keep herself composed.

He followed quietly, too quietly for Zane. Her nervousness was contagious. He made mental notes..Carlisle, Esme, Alice, Jasper..Rosalie...He cringed again as more bad thoughts bombarded his seventeen-something year old brain. He squeezed his eyes tightly shut and cut them off before starting down the stairs with Svet. Instinctively he grabbed her hand and gave a reassuring squeeze. But was he reassuring her or himself?

Svet glanced at him again, seeing he had his eyes closed, she reached for his hand to comfort him without words, but he reached for her's. When he gave her hand a small squeeze, she returned the pressure and ran her thumb across the back of his hand, trying to convey that it couldn't really be as bad as she thought.
The bottom step loomed down below her and she only had eyes for that step as they got closer and closer to the living room, she could hear everyone was in this particular room, probably coupled off but she couldn't tell because the only thing that was producing sound was the Tv. Svet sighed as her feet came in contact with the bottom step. She glanced up and looked around. She caught all the honey eyes and relaxed slightly when she realized none of the eyes were hostile. That was a very good sign.
"Why did you skip school?" Carlisle broke the silence. Svet shifted slightly.
"We didn't think we could really handle being in the cafeteria with all the other humans." She told him, smiling faintly.
