"Well yes and no." Ted said with a shrug, elbow deep in the contents of the bag. "Yes, because we--well I-- am used to being called out to go do this or that for the pack. And no, because she isn't from the same pack I am from. If she was I would know her without even meeting her." He said with a shrug, wondering if he could tell her about the mind-hearing thing he had when he was in wolf form.... Maybe another time.
Ted pulled out a sandwich with a triumphant smile and began unwrapping it.

She tilted her head slightly. "There are more than a single pack of you? More than the Quileute's?" she asked. "I wonder how much of your world I have missed." she pondered to herself out loud, sipping from her can of soda.

"Yes....at least I think so, its kinda sad to think there are only about fifteen of us, but honestly we aren't really 'werewolves'....in a sense. We are shapeshifters by birth and our form we take is a wolf, like you have seen." Ted explained devouring his sandwich. "I wouldn't even call it my world...I've just been apart of it for only a few months."

"So..." she said as a slight wind blew, blowing some of her almost-dry hair into her face. She pulled it out of the way and tucked the black strands behind her ear. "..there are actual werewolves? With the silver bullets and the full moon?" she asked. She would be lying if she said she weren't a little bit concerned. Who wouldn't? But she wasn't about to run away screaming, as Ted had once put it.

Ted nodded, and then he shook his head, and then he shrugged. "I'm not sure." He said taking another bite and chewing. "They are supposedly only able to change on the full moon, but I'm not sure about the silver. They are supposed to be dead because of some evil big powerful vampire hated them or something, I wasn't really paying attention when it was explained though, I was too 'oh wow, I have a tail!' at the time."

Kerrigan laughed. "Yes. Tails. They can be distracting." she said as if she had experience with fur.
It was amazing how much in the world happened so discreetly. Maybe the people that had claimed to have seen fairies and dragons weren't so crazy after all. She breathed in a sigh and smiled, looking at Ted. She was surprised how happy she had been lately, being involved in this new world. Maybe the reason why she was so unhappy with life, was because she was meant to walk this path, the one with were wolves, shape shifters, and vampires. She should have been scared, but she wasn't. She was at ease and relaxed as ever.
"I'm really happy." she said out loud, smiling brightly. "I never thought I would find something worth enjoying. But this," she said, motioning around her. "I feel like I actually belong." Kerrigan flopped her hands back into her lap, and grinned like an idiot out into the water.

Ted laughed along with her for a minute, his laughing trailed off into silence as he thought about those few months ago when he had turned into a werewolf, his second day back to Fork's from his 'home' in New York. He really hated it there. But for a few weeks he wasn't sure if he liked being a 'watchdog' here in Fork's either, his parents still lived in New York and he really missed his mother, but he had found his middle ground here, working at the only coffee shop in Fork's four afternoon's a week, and then running the border with his pack brothers and sisters.
When she spoke, it pulled him out of his thoughts and he found himself to be smiling from what she was saying. "I'm glad you feel like you belong." He responded, although he admitted to himself that was just a tad bit strange because she was definitely human. "You should come with me on one of the nights we have a campfire and tell Quiluete legends." He said with a small smile. "It's really fun."

"Oh, Really?" she asked, smiling. "Well, I would love to." she said. Kerrigan finished her soda and set the empty can in the sand.
Fun. Not usually a word she often used, but happy wasn't often in her vocabulary, either. "When would that be?" she asked finally, looking back to Ted. "It wouldn't help much if I didn't know when or where to go."

Ted broke into a wide grin. "Good. It will be fun with you there, little Hupa." He said with a grin. "To be honest I don't know when the next pack meeting will be, but when I know, you'll know." He told her, he reached out and snatched up her empty can and crushed it and put it inside the growing trash bag.
"Most of the pack meetings take place here, around First Beach. But we have had some up in the woods, when they involve more....secret matters. But the bonfires out here are fun. My pack brothers take their Imprints and its like a big family party."

"Imprints?" she asked, her eyebrows screwing together. She quickly raked her brain for anything you could possibly bring to a beach get together, but her party knowledge was extremely limited. All she could think of was wood for the fire, and of course food, if his friends had a stomach as large as his.

"Er...yeah... Imprints. Girlfriends, wives... significant others." Ted explained, not really wanting to get into the odd quirk. He let out a breath and glanced around, he was frightful of his day he would meet his. If he would ever, he wasn't sure he would either.

She tilted her head slightly to the side, a bit confused. "You call...girlfriends...Imprints? Do you wolves have to make everything so complicated?" she asked, laughing a bit at the end. She was wondering why he looked so anxious and worried, as if something would jump out of the bushes and scare him. Maybe this subject was uncomfortable for him...

Soft pads drummed across the forest floor, and her eyes darted back and forth as she weaved through the trees. Many unknown scents filled her nose, but only one worried her. The one trailing behind.
A twig cracked behind her, and she twisted around to see crimson red orbs. The blow to her side crushed the bones in her arm, and she flew through the trees and rolled in warm sand. Once she came to a halt, she jumped to her feet, keeping one foot off of the ground as she searched the trees lined up before her.
The vampire broke through the trees, heading straight for her, and a feral snarl broke through her chest before they collided in a thunderous crack.

The sound of cracking trees and smashing boulders mad her head snap to her side. Her heart beat out a ragged rhythm as a cat's snarl broke through the beach. She froze as she spotted a giant black panther in the sand, shrieking and growling as it fought with something.
She scooted a little closer to Ted, knowing that he was strong enough to protect her. She reached out and gripped his hot hand, squeezing it in hers. What was happening!

"It's a bit more complicated than I make it sound, but its nothing you really want to know." Ted told her, sparing a smile in her direction. He looked up into the woods. A vampire in the middle of La Push?! Ted felt himself shake with anger. No!
At the appearance of the panther, Ted understood. The shapeshifter was not from here, and had led this vampire here, trying to get away from it. Ted was on his feet. "Don't move Kerrigan. Don't run. Please." He said quietly. He looked into her eyes for a moment before he jumped through the air, exploding into his wolf form he stood next to the panther, looking at her for a second before he faced the vampire, his hackles rising.
