Edward held the ring between his finger and thumb and gazed into the rainbow beams that the diamonds were trowing in his direction. It seemed like such a long time ago that he had been given his mothers ring by Carlisle. It was only one of a few pieces passed on to him after his mother's death. It was the one thing most precious to him for he knew that soon he would be giving it to the woman he loved.
He sighed softly at the idea as he placed the ring into a small black velvet box. She had perplexed him with her views of marriage. The girl was willing to die for him, to spend the rest of eternity with him as an undead creature, doomed to roam the earth cursed and shunned...but she wouldn't marry him? The few times they had spoken of marriage she paled and looked as if she would be sick. Did she not want to be his wife? He had no doubt that she wanted to be with him but, he would have it no other way. He would make her his wife if it killed him...again. That thought made him chuckle.
Tucking the velvet box into his desk he got to his feet and canted his head listening. The house was unusually quiet. If he didn't know better, he would swear that everyone was asleep. He listened for thoughts but found none close enough to hear. With the house to himself, he moved quietly down the stairs and sat alone at his piano. How long had it been since he had played or written anything.
Slowly and gently, his long pale fingers caressed the keys, filling the empty room with a melodic and intoxicating lament. It was called Death of Spring and it was one of his favorite pieces when he was in a contemplative mood. He closed his eyes and moved his head slightly with the timing of the music, blocking out every thought and sound as he concentrated solely on the piece.

Jasper walked into the house after going hunting. He was so thirsty earlier this mornign that he just up and left without anyone knowing. When he walked back into the house he heard the piano being played but he could of sworn when he left no one was home. So he walked into the room and saw Edward playing it. He could feel how he felt kind of sad and he hated seeing his brother so sad. So he just sat and watched and kept his thoughts to himself. Jasper knew when Edward played the piano he didn't want to be bothered.

Edward sensed Jaspers presence when he entered the house and from his thoughts knew that his brother was not going to spoil the song. Edward respected Jaspers consideration in everything they had ever done together. He understood Jasper for the most part and had not minded the audience.
As the piece came to an end, the last rings of the upper keys echoed in the high vaulted ceiling and Edward sat motionless for a moment with his eyes closed and head bowed over the keys. Music for him was so much more than just something to listen to. To Edward, it was a living flowing entity and he was only the vessel to carry it to others. He took a deep cleansing breath through his nose before opening his eyes and looking to Jasper with a sly little smile. "That piece of music was banned Japan one hundred years ago. It was said to arouse the libido of the women who were listening to it...apparently overpopulation was a problem then too."
He laughed softly as he turned back to the piano and closed the wood over the keys, protecting them from dust and other contaminants. "So how was hunting, if you'd have told me I would have gone with you."

"I never knew that before" Jasper said with a small smile. "And here I thought only China had that problem." He smiled at his brother. "It was great, I didn't know you were thirsty or I would have asked you if you wanted to come along" Jasper told him. Jasper always got along with Edward more then he did with Emmett. It was something about Edward that made him different from Emmett maybe it was because Emmett was all muscle and no brains.

Edward shrugged a little and absent mindedly drummed his fingers on the closed keyboard. "I'm not extremely thirsty but I think I might need to feed. Gonna be spending some time around humans." He knew that Jasper of all people would understand the need to be prepared for the temptation that came with the smell of humans and their blood.
Edward sighed, though it was a show of depression rather than a need to actually exhale air. He was missing Bella and and it showed as if it was written across his forehead.

"Yeah you never know when Bells might get hurt again"Jasper joked. He looked at his brother and knew he was sad just by the emotions radiating off of him.

He nodded and smiled half heartedly. Jasper was so right. Looking around the deserted house he frowned before looking back to Jasper. "Where did everyone go? "
It was rare that the house was empty, even more rare that Alice was not hovering over Jasper.

"Oh, don't be sad, little Edward." Mabel said, sitting on the other half of the piano chair. She always had the uncanny ability to appear out of midair. She couldn't actually blink from one place to another, but she was just very sneaky. Years of practice, I suppose.
She lifted a pale hand and patted him on the head. Her own eyes were an odd burgundy orange color from her recent switch of diet, and they were bright from her recent hunt. She looked over Edward's shoulder to Jasper and frowned. "I don't understand. How can anyone want to hide from little Alice?" and then her burgundy eyes flashed with anger. "And why didn't they take me with them?"
Mabel stood up with her arms across her chest, pouting. She loved to shop now that the opportunity presented itself while being in the Cullen clan. She scowled. "How could they leave without me!" she growled, sticking out her bottom lip.

"I don't actually know where Alice is Mabel but I understand why Rain and Nakuro are hiding from her. She is making their wedding bigger then Rain wanted it to be" Jasper said,"I am sure if they knew you wanted to go they would have asked." Jasper started to send calming waves toward Mabel.

Edward offered a smile to Mabel and listened as she and Jasper spoke of Alice and the others. "I'm sure there will be shopping left to do, if Alice has anthing to do with it."
Leaning his head on his hand, he propped his elbow on the piano. "I don't get the shopping thing."
